Thanks Geoff.

The Lane and Tom families of Basil, a farm at St. Clether, appear to have been the first link in a chain of emigration from the Bodmin Moor region of Cornwall to western New South Wales. William and Ann Tom with their children William and nephew James Bray, and William and Catherine Lane, after an eventual voyage which included a near sinking, arrived in Sydney in 1823 ... Both Lane and Tom took up land grants in the vicinity of the Sidmouth Valley. The Lanes established their 1000 acre property Tarranah on the northern side of the Fish River. William Tom's 500 acre grant straddled Sidmouth Valley Creek. The property was known as Blenheim (now Newstead).
Does not seem to fit with this so were they joining relatives ?

Passengers included a number of women and families sent out by govt., to join their relatives ...
