Thanks Geoff.

I have 1861. Don't know if a search has been done for 1841 or not. No mention in my tree.

I have Eliza in 1871, 1881 and 1891.

I have lots in RN connected to Stephen PERDRIAU and most of the time I can find very little about their service history. This one is an exception but way off a main line:

Charles Horace Lapidge R.N. Explanation
Son of Samuel Lapidge, of Hampton Wick
Date (from) (Date to) Personal
8 January 1868 Died (Wandsworth)
Date Rank
31 August 1824 Lieutenant
1 October 1860 Retired Commander
Date from Date to Service
31 August 1824 1825 Lieutenant in Scout, commanded by James Wigston, West Indies
19 December 1837 Lieutenant in Lily, commanded by John Reeve, west coast of Africa
10 July 1838 1839 Additional Lieutenant in Stag, commanded by Thomas Ball Sulivan, South America
24 November 1841 1844 Lieutenant commander in Pantaloon, west coast of Africa

Re 1841 I have nothing else in my notes to say there were transcription issues or whatever.

Do you want the full census or can you get it from the ref?

Geoff
Now, that's a good question.

I was once told that I could if I had the full ref even though I didn't have a subscription. I did try and could not get the details. Does it only work on one site or all?

I put in the name and the ref and it gave me an index page full of Henry Carters.

There are 18,328,814 results for "" in 1841 England, Wales & Scotland Census

I need to narrow that down a bit. :D

Where does FMP let me enter the ref?

With 'A' I can enter the ref but it ignores it and gives me an index page full of possibles.

Does not matter if I start with a....com it ends up taking me to a...com.au and lists the Australian collection of records.

It ignores the ref and gives me an index page.

With Anc. Once you get that list up, on the left hand side there is a hyperlink - e.g. 1841 U.K. Census Collection, click it and you can enter the ref details..
