Not so silly just difficult to get to grips with, seeing as we grow with the use of numbers.
I had difficulty understanding why someone had to invent 0 (zero) as the concept hadn't been seen before.
I was taught Roman numerals at school but nothing about Latin. Wonder why they taught roman numerals and we had a choose of French or German for a language If they were teaching roman numerals why not a choose of the Latin language
You could write roman numerals and do maths with it and speak French or German :2fun::2fun:
I did Latin and French and have duly forgotten most of it, apart from the odd French phrase. Because of my army service, at one time I could count to 100 in Welsh, French, German and Arabic and that other language which is now mostly slang-English. "Yes" & "No" are very rarely heard now!
I was once given detention at school for giving a teacher a couple of latin numerals with my fingers,the explanation by me that i was just trying to add 5 plus 5 in latin was met with a frown of such disdain.
