Thanks Geoff.

Henry R = Henry Robert.

Joseph J married Jane (where and when ??) and a son, Joseph James Albert, married in Sydney:

NSW Death 15287/1922 LEE JOSEPH J A - JOSEPH J - JANE - DRUMMOYNE

DEATHS
LEE.-November 26, 1922, at his residence Wandsworth, 307 Bridge-road, Drummoyne, Joseph James Albert, dearly loved husband of Priscilla M. Lee.

Name of residence could well be a clue.

I can't find a tree so I'm ... no, not guessing :)

Can those in 1863 marriage be matched?

We now have an age at death:

Cemetery: Field of Mars NSW
Person Id: 7574116
Surname: Lee
Given Names: Joseph James
Interred Date: 27 Nov 1922
Age: 58
Gender: M
Portion: Ang
Row: Sec J
Plot: 187

Perhaps the birth of Joseph J A was registered as just Joseph - several in London 1863-1864.

1871 census ? or did Joseph J. and Jane leave England before 1871?

Thanks Geoff.

The other witness is Jane Bauers.

So we don't have Joseph who married in 1863 in 1851 or 1861 yet.

Not sure I understand that
Post #2 you at first doubted it was the right family because there was no son Joseph.

The 1863 marriage and the witnesses show it to be the right family.

Where is Joseph J. born abt 1838 in 1851 and 1861 and 1871?

Births Sep Qtr 1838
LEE Joseph James Marylebone 1 123

I can't see them in 1881 so perhaps 1871-1881 for shipping record to Australia. Or any time before 1901.

Age at death for J J A gives dob 1864 so that fits.

Marriage 5933/1901 LEE JOSEPH J A - HOFFMANN PRISCILLA M - SYDNEY

Thanks Geoff.

He is a cook in the marriage record.

I can't find any of them assisted to Qld. or NSW.

Unassisted to Vic.:

LEE JOSEPH 21 - DEC 1886 WESTGATE B 476 002
LEE KATE 21 - DEC 1886 WESTGATE B 476 002

LEE DOROTHY 2 - JUN 1894 CUZCO B 585 005
LEE JOSEPH 29 - JUN 1894 CUZCO B 585 005
LEE KATE MRS 28 - JUN 1894 CUZCO B 585 005

Two things we don't know. Did J J A (b. abt 1864 Ireland) arrive without family and unmarried? Was the 1901 marriage his first?

Yeah, that's why thought it was him in 1861.

Clouding the issue is a Joseph Lee, ships cook travelling back and forth to NSW, a bit of long shot, but his family may have travelled on one of those trips, but I can't see them in the manifests

Yeah, still one or two unknowns, can't see a tree for any guidance, have you found one yet?
