http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Holocaust_Memorial_Day_(UK)

Well Burns Night(Scotland) on Tuesday.....Aus Day today.......tomorow 27th is a day of remembrence for ALL Holocaust victims in WW2.

Its a day in Britain where the horrors are remembered....and for those who have sympathies to Palestine(and maybe rightly so) lets not forget that many of those who were wiped out were not Jewish.
All those poor people who perished deserve a few seconds of our thoughts i think.

You have made a very good point on these people, i have always been very sympathetic to the Jewish people and the treatment they have suffered over the centuries.

And Jehovah's witnesses. I had the honour of meeting Pastor Niemuller who was imprisoned in a camp for criticizing the Natzi Government. He told me he was impressed by the witnesses who gave half their food to others even when they had so little. He lost a son in the bombing of Dresden while he was in the camp. Many civilian refugees were in Dresden at the time including Niemullers wife and children. Goes to show no war is totally black and white.

That is true....my Uncle Maurice(dads bruv) was in a tank battalion that saw heavy action....he killed men....men tried to kill him.
He hated it at the time.....was lucky and survived.
After the war he stayed in Germany...met a German girl and had a child.

The anger about the bombings caused a rift in the family....he came home to Hedge End.........and that was that...so someware i have German rellies!

Maury as he was called died a few years back....i miss Uncle Maury:(
