Im thinking Richard, Issac & Jane Jr might be Hares & maybe passed off as lewis.

With william back to the drawing board.

Im thinking issac might have either died or stayed in England with Richard.

So now we need to find William, Richard, & Jane Jr.

We know that both jane jr & william came to SA that happens to them after that is a mystery

What about a Richard under the name Lewis?
May have taken his stepdads surname
I should have made it clear I was referring to his bap., in 1833 and up to June 1836 he would gave been named Hare... There would possibly be no reason to bap him after June 1836 given Jane was bap as Hare in 1835..

Geoff

EDIT: Isaac's bap has also been found..

Apparently not all of them Geoff. There is supposedly a Richard and and Isaac Hare who stayed in England.

I still feel one or 2 of the kids mentioned are not Jane snr's, such as Richard. Something isnt right
So Richard's bap is unaccounted for..

Shame they didnt have unusual middle names to help

In 1864 Jane is a widow with 5 living & 4 dead kids & is from Kent

Arrived with 5 kids: W. and T. Lewis , Jane Hare, Eliza and Charles Lewes

So arriving with 5 kids im assuming the other 4 had all died back in the UK.

4 Dead ??
Isaac
Richard
Edward / Edwin
?

Married Isaac Hare 1830.
Kids: Isaac Hare, Jane Hare [?]
Isaac died 1835.

Married William George Lewis 1836
Kids: William, Thomas, Eliza, Charles, Richard [?] Edward / Edwin [?]

Jane Sr died in 1899 under the surname Grimsdale. Her death certificate lists thomas, charles & eliza is listed as dead.

William, Jane & Edwin are not named at all.
The only reason i feel they may not have been mentioned is that they were not closely involved with the rest of the family to be known to the informant, hence that could mean they could have been any where in Australia. And a good chance their death indexes wouldnt have parents names neither. I could be wrong but just trying to throw ideas around.

You OK, Gibbo?

A public tree has this, not validated.. May be worth looking into. Jane's age a bit out.

"Marriage
William Burtt (1809-1882)
1857 Australia
Spouse
Jane Hare
1840–1890"

Tree also has this birth..
"Andrew Burtt (1857-1926)
Abt. 1857 Bingley Creek Victoria Australia"
