Hi I am looking for information on a Robert Taylor who lived around the Balmain area of NSW during the time of 1840. He was possibly friends with a John Hoyle who married Roberts sister in law Caroline Balson in 1840.
any help gratefully appreciated.

Hi Christine,
Do you have any further info on Robert Taylor. With it been a common name there a whole stack of them. Do you have a wife's name and or parents names, date of death etc that might help narrow it down a little?

And this one confuses me:confused: On the marriage record it states Mary Balson a Robert Taylor yet on the passenger list it has Charles and also states Mary as wife and married in Feb. 1837.
Is his name Robert or Charles??

gibbo Yes it is so confusing, that is why I am asking for help.
We believe his parents were William Taylor and wife Sarah (nee Cosier) we believe they never came to Australia.
Robert's wife was Mary and we know that she died 1882 or 6, but we definitely have her death date. We know their son Albert died 1909 as have found his death notice. The family lived mostly around the Drummoyne/Balmain area of Sydney. We also know that Albert was a member of Manchester Unity Of Oddfellows etc, as they were invited to his funeral.
I was hoping that their might have been other family members on here who might have some info, I know that there is one other person here, who has also posted on this site, but is not answering my emails. and they are also searching for the same family.
seems we will never solve the problem of them unless we can help each other.
cheers
Christine
