Looking for Lowe family

Hi. Is there anyone out there researching the Lowe family from Wigan area, specifically James Lowe b 1864 Hindley., he married a lady Mary Elizabeth and had a daughter, Edith, in 1900. Have found James on 1901 census living in Hindley. On 1881/1871 census he is living with his grandparents Robert Partington and Margaret Partington (nee Lowe) who married in 1846. I cannot find James anywhere with his parents/parent. I have thought that maybe James was born out of wedlock but then his surname would have been partington. Ironically James' grandmother's maiden name was Lowe. Getting very confused here. Any help would be great

GRo have a birth for a James Arthur Lowe Sep 1865 West Debry & Toxteth Park 8b 298 mmn Partington.

There is also a marriage Sep 1864 Liverpool 8b 154 for an Ellen Partington to a James Lowe.

In the 1871 Hindley, Lancashire there is James Lowe,(grandson) b 1864 living with Robert Partington and his wife Margaret Partington also James son of Robert and Margaret.
