Hi

I am looking for a marriage between ? Rimmer and? Tranter from 1900 - 1913 possibly in the Blackpool area. Their daughter Catherine A Rimmer was born 1913 in Blackpool, her mother's maiden name is Tranter. I am hoping someone out there has or is researching Catherine who may be able to shed some light on her parent's marriage. If not will have to send for another cert.
Fingers crossed

There doesn't seem to be a Rimmer - Tranter marriage.
Have you thought that the wife could have been a widow when she married so although her maiden name was Tranter (as given when the Rimmer children were registered) her name would be something different at the time of her marriage to Mr Rimmer.

Catherine Ann Rimmer married John E Griffin Fylde 1931 and died 1984 Blackpool, date of birth 18 March 1913.

Their could have been older children in the Rimmer family, lots of Rimmers born in Fylde but mother's maiden name not given before 1912.

Hi MLR

I have a theory..

There was an Alice Ann Tranter born 1878 Derby who married James Nuthall in Fylde in 1900. (parents William and Sophia) In 1891 she is with her family in Derby, but by 1901 they had moved to Blackpool. In 1901 she is 23 living in Blackpool with James - in 1911 she is 32 still with James 38 in Blackpool.

There are three male Rimmer's boarding in Blackpool in 1911 - Ernest born Kendal 1880, John born 1888 Conway and Samuel (poss John's brother) born 1888 Blackpool

There is a marriage of Samuel Rimmer in Fylde o/d 1913 to an Alice Ann Baxter but I think this may be a red herring.
There does not seem to be any more children to James Nuthall or a death so did Alice just leave him and set up home with ? Rimmer, possibly Ernest, but never married

Hi MLR

Ignore all my previous posts, I think I may have cracked it..

Norah May Tranter was born in Tipton, Staffs in 1882.

In 1901 she was a servant in Blackpool aged 19, to William Howson 64, his wife Ellen 64 and their daughter Jennie 30

On 9/2/1903 she married Samuel Whitehouse at Dudley
Samuel died in 1910

In 1911 Norah 29 is a widowed Boarding house keeper aged 29 living in Tipton with children Maud 8 and John 5. Is there a dark secret here as in

a/j 1912 Norah married John Rimmer in Dudley, her father was Charles. Was this the John born in Conway, Wales who was in Blackpool in 1911 aged 33

So did Norah and John Rimmer return to Blackpool after they married where they had children, We know the daughter born in 1915 was called Norah Can this all be just coincidence?

I have now found a tree which has John born Conway 1879 married to Norah May Tranter. It does not give their children but I think it confirms the info on posts 8/9/10. It has the following ancestors which need confirming

John's parents were Charles and Ann Maria Timmins
Charles parents were Benjamin and Elizabeth Williams
Benjamin's parents were Edward and Jane Edge
Edwards parents were Edward and Ann Unk
Edwards parents were Benjamin and Mary Bennitt

Hi have just stumbled across this post and I'm quite sure this is the same Norah may tranter that my mother stayed with in blackpool sometime in the early 1940s she was quite ill at the time and was sent to stay with her great aunt. My grandmother was also a Norah may Tranter born in Tipton 1901. My mother is still with us and has told me many times of this story she remembers the place she stayed was 52 rimmel road and she also says that she called them uncle jack and aunt Norah there were three other girls maud. Pam. And Cath she remembers jack worked the boats from central pier and had lost a finger and was a very happy go lucky man. I know that my grandmothers father was named Harry and Norah was his sister. I would love to find out more and probably will but I'm only just starting with this and not really sure what I'm doing but anyway I hope the information helps in someway
