hi i need some help please

i would like to look for birth records for my grandad willian ritson all i know is that he was born in bedlington would it be newcarstle i would have to go though ?thanks

Hi Grannine,

I did see your earlier post. I had a look at the death records for the 1980's,
thought it would be easier as the dob is usually entered, but Ancestry only goes up to 1983 and there were a couple of indexes missing. Anyway found a birth for a William Ritson year of registration 1923 dist Tynemouth (not far fron Newcastle) vol 10b, page 631, mothers maiden name Young.

Have you your Grandfathers marriage details as the fathers name will be entered, if not I'll have a look, but I need a rough date of marriage and brides first and maiden name. Then if you do apply for the birth and marriage cert you'll be doubely sure its the right one.

right my granfather married HETTY(HETTIE)WILSON from what i know the wilson`s lived in colchester ,essex and lived on a farm which is now the greanstead est ( a large concil est) so i recon they married in a church in colchester anyway my grandad william ritson was born ruffly 1913-1920`s i have a granmother who wont give me any info typical eh! also grandad worked worked down the pit`s ither in or near bedlington . anyway i hope this helps thanks you .p.s i havent got a marriage date sorry

Do you know when their eldest child was born, then I can search nearer that year.

hi julie yep robert (bob) ritson my dads brother was the oldest he was born about 1934 but i dont know the exat date sorry or place but he ,died in the 1959-1960`s with a brain hemorage he was four years older than my dad william (bill) ritson d.o.b 19th july 1938 he married (my mum cheryl dawn lowther-smith dob 6th jan 1945 at ipswich road,colchester ,essex ) the date of marriage was 8th jan 1966 at st johns ,colchester . hope this helps all the dates are all correct because they are out of the family bible .

Hi Grainne,

Found a marriage for 1935 Sept 1/4, William Ritson spouse Wilson dist Colchester vol 4a page 2748. Its not a very good copy of the index hoping the page no is correct. The birth for 1923 isnt the right one.
