I am looking for decendants of Henry Rowles 1873 who married Rose Davies 1876 married in Pontnewynydd pontypool. There were quite a lot of children from this marriage Mary, Samuell, William H, James, John H, Godfrey, Leonard, Ronald (my grandfather), Phyllis, Olwen, Gladys, and possibly a Gwyneth .
I am struggling to find marriages and children of these people
Any help greatly appreciated
Thanks Bekki :D

Hi Bekki

I'm not sure if you mean you can't find children of the children and their marriages, or you can't find the marriage of Henry and Rose, plus birth dates of their children.
This is Henry - married twice
1 - Henry Rowles to Ann Greasley j/m 1893 Pontypool ref 11a 173
2 - Henry Rowles to Rosina Davies a/j 1902 Pontypool ref 11a 296

Strange on 1911 census Henry 38 and Rose 35 are given as married 18 years, this would be 1893 when Henry married Ann(ie). In 1911 they have 7 children, Mary to Leonard on your list. But a further 3 had died.

On 1901 census Henry is 30 Annie is 34 with children Mary E, Saml and Wm
All the children you named are on BMD, so if you require dates, speak up..

Yate is a small town near Bristol......used to be a big mining area and Rowles seems to be a popuar name in Bristol....my feeling is maybe this Rowles family may have followed the coal to Wales!
Has his parents at the top of link as well.
You can click on the names(in blue)for more info and apologies if you have this info already.

I would love to make contact with the person who has a photograph of
Henry & Rosina Rowles. I am particularly interested in one of their sons,
Samuel Rowles who was a WW1 soldier.

Yes this Rowles family did go to Wales Pontypool and were miners one of my great great greatfathers was John Rowles the great great great grandfather of Henry. They stemmed right back to Kingswood in mid 1500s and can be found attending Kingswood Abbey on the first page in the transcripts which still exsist some of this Rowles family still live in Pontypool some moved to Coventry during the war and just before the war some went from Coventry to Cardiff. The foot soilder fought in the American war. Also we are related to Cracker Rowles who built the Bristol cutter boat Cariad which he made which still exists. Hope this helps.
