Ah. Thanks.

Two pipers will play as the bride and groom, Miss Valma E. Loury (Windsor) and Mr. Geoffrey D. Hamilton (Longreach) enter and leave Holy Trinity Church, Woolloongabba.
Might have to go back a few generations to get to Scotland. :)

Marriage: 1890/C0930 Loury Robert - Jenkins Mary

Two possible deaths:

1939/C1048 Loury Robert - Robert - Catherine Munro
1922/C2139 Loury Robert -John Loury - Maria Johnson

Can only find this one on BCC site:

Toowong Cemetery
Loury Robert Joseph James 18 / 01 / 1954 55 years

Thank you again.

Ha. One more generation. We might get to Ireland instead.

Marriage 1865/C0618 Munro Catherine - Lowry Robert

Birth 1867/C0897 Lowry Robert - Robert - Catherine Munroe

So the 1922 death is the other one.

I wonder:

It appears the Munro's and Loury lot were in Toowoomba together. Maybe Catherine had a brother over here as well and the Mrs A Munro is his wife:confused: I gather the Mr N Loury is Nelson Loury.

Morning Bulletin (Rockhampton, Qld. : 1878 - 1954)(about)
Thursday 2 July 1936

Mrs A. Munro , Miss D. Bearklcy, and Mr N. Loury , who were the guests of Mrs J. Herbert, West Street, for thc Carnival, have returned to Toowoomba.

Thanks gibbo. :)

I have given up trying to find the right family in Scotland. Nothing fits and most of the names there are LOWRIE anyway so it's hard to be sure.

I had no luck with MUNRO either. May not be Scotland.

No luck with shipping records.

Still can't find a death for Marian.

Too many marriages for a* MUNRO

Death 1936/C03526 Loury Catherine - Angus Munro - Marian McKay

Either we have 2x Angus or he remarried:

Death 1911/B15075 Munro William - Angus Munro - Mary Ross

If a brother of Catherine then there is no death for an A. MUNRO with same parents as Catherine to 1964.

MUNRO births in Qld.: Andrew, Archibald, Alexander, Albert...

It looks like about 10 different families.

Yeah i know i have checked it out. William 1911 died a terrible death.. hit by a train:rolleyes:

Passenger lists are hopeless cause i found one family of Munro's who come out together and there were heaps of them on the one ship. There were several with the same name but different ages etc. It was like a WHOLE family come out here, cousins, brothers, sisters mums etc all together.

edited... To hard basket?

BBS Be back shortly
