As a young man growing up XTC were the group i loved.....the only good band out of Swindon i followed there progress and watched them live many times.
There big hit was...Making Plans For Nigel..was all about a young lad knowing he had to follow his fathers footsteps into the Swindon railworks.
Other hits were... Senses Working Overtime amongst others.
My favourite song was the one above.....lovely melody and old fashioned ideas in the words.
If XTC had been from a big city ie Manchester or Liverpool they would have been household names.
If you listen to the vocals Andy Partridge the lead singer's strong Wiltshire dialect comes through loud and clear.
