Probably not John. Margaret is not old enough to be his grandmother. John's father was born abt 1811. Also, sister Elizabeth was born in Glasgow in 1839.

I can't see a marriage on SP 1800-1811 in Scotland for John & Margaret.

Children to John & Margaret:
Janet 22 Jun 1829
Shusannah b. 6 Oct 1833
Jane b. 13 Jun 1847
Margaret Porteous b. 1 Feb 1852

There are others. Looks like 4 sons and 3 daughters born to 1854 in Lanark.

It seems as though all children born in Lanark were after that 17 Aug 1828 marriage with only James born before that date and in Renfrew. But his reg is LYON with father = John not LAMB with just mother = Margaret.

I can see no other reg for children born in Scotland to John & Margaret between 1811 and 1829.

A tree has 1789 for Margaret.

Has to be 2x John & Margaret.

So we have the one baptism for James in 1811 in Abbey Paisley and no sign of other children and no sign of the marriage.

Also can't find James or son John L in 1841.

There is definitely a problem with these censuses, this looks like the 1851 with James and son John (L)... same address details as the 1851 with Janet in post #1, odd why it is in 2 parts

Probably right, one James b. Renfrewshire, the other Lanarkshire... It may be the Lanarkshire James if the 1851 census is correct, also age 3y out [1814].
