I am having problems finding out any information on my great grandparents John MacDonald and Hannah Jacobs. Both were born in Scotland (Inverness?), it is questionable where they married but possibly in London then moved to India. Hannah Jacobs was an actress- chorus girl? - I know she was on the stage as I saw programmes when I was young but I don't know what happened to those. My nan was born out in India in 1904 then the family moved back to London where one of her brothers was and finally moved to Wales where her youngest brother was born. My great grandparents died in Penarth, South Wales.

Seems that this is more than family rumours then! Sorry I don't mean to be rude, it is that over the years I have been researching, I have seen and heard many families say this and that about their ancestors (I have written about this else where), and then it turns out to be a exagerated version of the truth. So this may be different, as you have seen it.

Hi Dave,

As my nan was born in 1904 I am working on the assumption that my great grandparents were married before she was conceived - she was born 26th Nov 1904. Working on that I would assume they were born 1903/1904, possibly in London. Now if they were about 25 when they married then they would have been born around 1878. I have had a thought to go the the cemetary where they are buried and/or look up records to see if that helps out.

Btw the story behind the u/name is I had a standard poodle called Bonnie who grandfather was supreme champ at Crufts round about 1985 and his name was Montravia Tommy Gun.
