I'm wondering if WALKER is her maiden name.

As you probably know, a copy of the marriage certificate should tell you if Walker was her maiden name. Unless things are different Down Under.

Hello Emeltee,

Yes possibly. I have been all over the NSW BMD site and I can't find anything that explains what the minimum details are or what it contains if fully filled out.

I can try to guess the church and look for the marriage on film at the library or I can purchase a copy. It's not a direct line and I ordered another NSW marriage just last week so this one will just go on the 'maybe' list.

One of the electorial rolls for 1933 - South Sydney - Marboura North have a George and Maria Frances Walker also a Esther elizabeth Walker - George is a horse trainer.

A death registration for a Maria Frances Walker:-

1936 - Kingsford NSW - Parents Spencer

The cemetery index has her year of birth abt 1873.

I will check the 1921 fiche for NSW Electoral Roll next time I'm at the State Library. Might just be lucky to catch Madeline under her maiden name. I'll check 1922 as well.

Failing that I will wait 15 months for her death reg to be added to the on-line index.

Looks as though the newspaper notices in TROVE are not going to help solve this one.

All we have is a birth in 1900 with the right name and an age at death that fits but nothing else to prove it's the right one.

That marriage is the starting point. Death aged 83 in 1983, parents George and Dolly.

Then the assumption is the one born 1900 in Thoona, Victoria who then married in Sydney. ??

No sign of a wedding notice in newspaper. Nothing in death or funeral notices to tie her to siblings. It's not enough.

No mention of sister-in-law in Reg's notice.

See if a death notice mentions Reg.

Because of the connection to POWELL this one is a descendant of the SANDS line.

Yep, I'm inclined to go with Julie's finds in posts 6, 7 and 8. Esther Elizabeth is with parents in 1930 and mother in 1933 & 36 and fits with the above death...
