Hi all

I'm trying to find information about Margaret Ann Parker on behalf of my great aunt.

She was born on 11 Aug 1932 in Marylebone to Frank George Parker and Helene Osbourne.

After she was born she moved in with my grandfather, great aunt and their parents. My great grandparents brought her up and she was seen as a younger sister to my grandfather and great aunt.

However when she was around 8 she moved out (I think back with her mother) and then emigrated to Canada with her mother and her grandfather.

My great aunt has been trying without success to track her down.

Any advice or information from members would be great - Canadian records are not something I have any knowledge of.

Many thanks
John

Hi Dave

Thanks very much for this, great information.

I dont think any of the other Parkers are related as they aren't names / locations I have come across in that family branch.

Assuming the grandfather was Helene's father are there any Osbournes / Osbornes on the same crossing?

Thanks in advance.

found these marriages which I find a little strange. These are the only two entries and for them both to have the same second name initials is spooky.. Did they marry 1931, divorce, then remarry in 1942. This would explain why Helene is named Parker or Osborne

Marriages Jun 1942

Cox Sydney G D'arcy Brighton 2b 664
Darcy Mary A Cox Brighton 2b 664
Osborne Helene L Parker Brighton 2b 664
Parker Frank G Parker Brighton 2b 664
Parker Frank G Osborne Brighton 2b 664
Parker Helene L Parker Brighton 2b 664
*COMMENT entry reads Parker or Osborne for spouse name
-----------------

Marriages Sep 1931

Green Nat F Herbert Pancras 1b 79
Herbert Margery Green Pancras 1b 79
Osborne Hélène L Parker Pancras 1b 79
Parker Frank G Osborne Pancras 1b 79

I could not find any Osbo(u)rne's on the 10/1951 voyage

Thanks. I had found the 1st marriage but wasn't aware of the second. Itis certainly in the right place (Brighton) so is highly likely.

If they broke up after Margaret's birth that would explain whyshe moved in ith my great grandparents. And if they got back together that would explain why she left again. The second date is certainly around the right time.

Not clear why her dad was not on the ship in 1951 though...

Thanks
John

what is the name of Helene's father and how old was he say in 1951 please
Not sure - haven't been able to find birth details of Helene.

I meant I was unsure why Margaret's father Frank George Parker wasn't on board.

There was some speculation within the family that Helene was born in Canada, but do not know if that is the case.

Is there any way of knowing where they went when they arrived in Canada? Does passenger destination Montreal mean that is where they were intending to end up, or simply the port they disembarked?

Looks possible as 1911 was the suggested birth date in 1951.

If there is a Helene Osbourne in the 1911 Census that would give her father's name. But not sure where she was born so where to look.

I take it there was no reference to Margaret coming back in 1955?

Thanks
John
