It has to be 'Hero' because Thomas was on it for many years.

No sign of William Perry. It's a coastal vessel so William didn't arrive on 'Hero' from England.

So the obit is wrong in some places, they do help a lot but only as a guide.

Obit may not be wrong.

William may have arrived in Vic. and then later travelled on 'Hero' from Melbourne to Sydney or whatever.

Most of the 'Hero' voyages have the name as Bennett and on one transcribed as Burnett. About two arrivals in Sydney per month. I went as far back as April 1871 and no sign of Perry.

Well, I can't find the right birth reg or find him in 1851 or 1961 census.

Curious. The 'Southern Cross' seems to be a vessel on the Melbourne - Hobart run.

Another coastal one with that name on the Maryborough - Sydney run.

No vessel with that name in 1865 from England on Mariners site.

Father = John might be correct and Charlotte might be an error. If so then there are about 7 possible marriages in Bath 1837 - 1846 for a John Perry.
