Margaret Emma Parker was my Grandmother's sister known as Maggie.

She met her first husband a Canadian soldier whilst she was working as a nurse at Nettley Abbey during the first world war.

I believe that they married in this country and then she emigrated to Canada with him.

I am trying to find a record of their marriage but I can't find it on freeBMD.

I believe that his name was webb.

I would expect that they were married in Hampshire.

Many Thanks

Ed

Thanks for looking it up for me the fact that they were married in Canada an not the UK explains why I couldn't find the marriage.

Interesting that he came from Hampshire as well that makes me wonder if the story that he was a Canadian soldier might be incorrect!

Many Thanks

I don't have the date of her Marriage to John Bryce but I do have her wedding Photo:

Maggie Died in 1981 but not sure when probably October or November.

My understanding is that Margaret was A Nurse at the Royal Victoria Military Hospital Netley and Edward Web there.

I have the newspaper notice of John Bryce death but don't have the date.

What is your relationship to my Great Aunt?

Thanks

Ed

Hi,

Going to 18 Queens Terrace
In Street Directorys This is the home of Thomas Parker who may be a caretaker.

Thomas Parker is her Father who lived at 18 Queens Terrace.

in 1923 he was a Shore Boatswain, as shown on Aggie's Marriage Certificate.

My Mother said that the Shore Boatswain handed out the jobs to the dockers.

Thanks

Ed

This may be Edward's family if Eda is Ada
Name: Eda Webb
Birth: abt 1877 - (British Subject), India
Residence: 1881 - Carisbrooke, Hampshire, England
It is there are only Georgina Webb entries in the 1881 Census and the other one isn't married to Edward so it looks correct.

Interesting that according to the census Georgina was under 18 when she married. Her daughter is 4 and she is only 22 at the time of the census.

you would have to check the census image to see if Ada was miss transcribed.

It does have Eda on image but that could be a transcription error.

Hi Jim,

That appears to agree with the census but does not with Edward's marriage certificate.

Which shows his mothers maiden name as Georgina Golden Johnson rather than Georgina Golding Campbell.

Hi,

So Assuming that it is the same person and I think it is we have:

Georgina Golding Campbell - Marrying Edward Webb

With her Father shown as William Campbell

And

Margaret Parker Marrying Edward Webb with his Mother shown as

Georgina Golden Johnson

So it looks like she has had three names in her life:

Georgina Campbell
Georgina Johnson
Georgina Webb

So where does the Johnson name come from.

Was she married previous to her Marriage to William Webb?
Was she adopted as a child?
Did her Mother remarry at some point?

I assume as it is shown on the marriage certificate as Maiden name of Mother that it isn't her name in a subsequent marriage to the marriage to William. But it is always possible it is.

Eddie
