Hi i am struggling to find my grandmothers birth details.:(
I know she was married in 1928 and her age on the certificate is 22 which would mean she was born around 1906 but i cant seem to be able to find her.
I know the marriage was registered in Willesden (London) so i guess she was born in London but cant be certain. I also know her fathers name was Edward Samuel Walsh.
Any help would be greatly appreciated:)

Thought i should better add that i thought i had found her bith details and ordered a certificate but when the certificate arrived yesterday the fathers name was William Walsh not Edward Walsh which leads me to think that ive got the wrong one. So obviously i searched for the correct one and its nowhere to be found:'(

Hi is there a possibility she could have lied about her age? lots of people did. I have an ancestor who on her marriage cert it said 18, however she was 16. Do you think the Samuel has been crossed out? and is there a question mrk next to the Edward? nothing for Margart E for 1905 & 1907. Just a thought.might she have been registered just under Margaret? and there are loads of them!

Thanks for the reply.

The question mark is actualy a 7 and it indicates a mistake made by the registrar i guess that the mistake is that the name Samuel is the mistake as it has been crossed out, but i am guessing.

I have emailed the church where they were married to see if i could see the original to find out what the mistake actually is.

But im guessing it still wont help me find my grandmothers details:'(

Hi the registrar must have been tired making all those mistakes! I did an address search for 3 Bruce Road in 1901 census, but no 3 did not exist -odd numbers started from 7. Do you know any more about Edward Walsh perhaps an address? or his wife's name,? or even what county he came from.

Hi Joe,

Assuming that she came from that area would it be worth checking the parish register, she may have been christened at the church she was married in, or check the electoral register for Bruce Road!

I have received notification from the parish registrar where Margret Walsh was married and unfortunately it sheds no light on the subject.
It states fathers name as Edward Walsh and NOT Edward Samuel Walsh. That is the only extra info i got so im still  with this one.

it could be possible i guess that she was not born with the name Walsh but I dont know. I am totaly stuck on this one. any further suggestions?

Hi Joe,

It could be possible that she was born with a different surname, eg illigitemate or mother remarried and she used her step fathers surname.

I had a look on the partial birth index the only ones that came nearest to yob 1906 are:-

1907 Margaret Evangeline Brown district Ely Cambs
1906 Margaret Evangeline Leathley district Salford Greater Manchester
1908 Margaret Evangeline Wilcox district Liverpool Lancashire

Another thing is she may have not been born in England or Wales!

You may have to wait for the 1911 census and see if that reveals anything..

Hi Joe,
William Edward Walsh- Father. If evrything else lines up, you could have cracked it.

My Grandfather went through all his life using his second name of Eli. Registered as Frederick Eli.

Hi,
My mother was a relative of hers.
Margarets' father was indeed Edward Walsh and her mother was Marion Waters. Marion was the second wife of Edward; I am descended from his first wife, Beatrice.
Edward and Marion were married in Ireland and their two children, Samuel and Margaret were born in Ireland.
My mother, Thelma kept in touch with you mother and her sister for many years.
Please contact me if you think this would be of interest.
Regards,
Richard
