Margaret Lonie B 1877 where ? died 23 Jan 1918 where? maybe Bowden or Hindmarsh, South Australia.
She married Arthur James Griffin (b 6 july 1876 Bowden South aust) on 20 Dec 1899 maybe in Adelaide South Aust
Her father, David Lonie born 1857 where? died 9 Sept 1933 where?
Her mother, Elizabeth Henderson born 1849 died 25 Aug 1926 where?
As you can see I have names and dates but no place details, also no other details of how, where from and when Lonies came to South Australia.
No other details of Lonie / Henderson ancestry available. Maybe from Scotland.
A derivation of Lonie name is Auchterlonie, but I can't match this either in South Aust.
Any help on breaking through this brick wall will be appreciated.
We have details of Margaret's descendt's for sharing.
thanks in anticipation,
barry:confused:

I think it is them on a passenger list, not sure. but it doesnt say which ship but if you go back to the archives they will find it and it may have where they were from and other info that may help if it is your lot. the passenger list may have where born etc. You said your margaret lonie was born in 1877 so if it is them she would have been a baby.

Surname year name
Lonie 1877 David 77/18
Lonie 1877 Elizabeth 77/18
Lonie 1877 Margaret 77/18
Lonie 1877 Robert 77/18

seems the ship 77/18 is the "Airlie", arrived pt adelaide 12 june 1877.
Lonies are listed on a ship list web site, but I have not checked actual passenger list at adelaide library. this list may give me some more info .

Hi,

I may be able to help.
I have a large database of Lonie/Auchterlonie's, as my 2nd Great Grandmother was a Lonie. Her parents came out to New Zealand in 1858. Her parents where David Lonie and Margaret Scott.

Most of the locations that I have for them are based in Scotland, mainly in the Ceres, Fife and Edinburugh area's

Sorry I don't have a David Lonie born about 1857 that married a Henderson, at the moment. I do still have more information to process, as I have recently received 6 word documents on the Auchterlonie family, that has been research over the past 40 years.

Regards,

John Reynolds
Christchurch, New Zealand
