Convict #6 in my tree

Margaret Mary KAVANAGH

...arrived as a convict from Ireland aboard 'Atlas' on July 6, 1802 and was assigned to a Mr Bradley of Goulburn Plains for her seven year sentence.
I'm finding that impossible to confirm even allowing for the variations KAVANAGH/KAVENAGH/CAVANAGH/CAVENAGH/KAVANAUGH/CAVANAUGH...

Thanks gibbo but something is amiss :) because she is supposed to be from Cork, Co Cork.

I've gone through the Irish convicts to NSW database using 1802 and Margaret and can't find her yet I downloaded this last weekend:

Name: Margaret Cavanagh
Arrival Date: Jul 1802
Vessel: Atlas
Province: New South Wales
Title: Female
Year(s): 1816
Place of Conviction: Marybors ** Can't find that place in Ireland

Yes, I found that one but the records I downloaded last weekend seem to confirm the arrival on 'Atlas' in 1802 so I'm lost.

I'll move on to #7 then.

Hello Geoff,

Thanks.

I guess that must be the place.

Curious how some records don't have her on 'Atlas' but on the other vessel 'Hercules' that left Ireland at the same time.

Some descendants claim she was from Cork as was her future spouse, also a convict (#16 in my tree), William REGAN/RAYDON/RADON...

Name: Willm Raydon
Age: 26
Estimated Birth Year: abt 1772
Birth Location: Cork
Date of Trial: 17 Jan 1798
Trial Year: 1798
Location of Trial: Middlesex, England
Sentence: Transportation
Crime: See Image
Date of Execution or Release:

I think I have all of William's convict details. Missing his parents but no hope of finding them in Ireland in 1700s.

Regards,

Dave

Something is awfully wrong
Apparently the Asia only had male convicts on board

The Atlas departed Cork on 30 May 1802, sailed via Rio de Janeiro, and arrived in Port Jackson on 30 October 1802 with 188 male prisoners

edited... its ok i just checked the Atlas again and there are woman convicts on board.

Asia I arrived in July.

Using father = William and mother = Margaret or Mary I can't find a baptism record in NSW 1800-1816 for William, John or Margaret, or any other children, with a surname anything like REGAN/RAYDON.

Nothing in Australian records on FS either. I have found a few baptisms there that were not in NSW on-line index.

Age at death fits with age at marriage:

V1851324 118/1851 STORIER MARGARET AGE 36

Roman Catholic Burials - Parish of Goulburn in the Year 1851
No ? Margaret Storrier 36 years Goulburn 20th June - R Walsh

Those gaps in my tree look like remaining.

Margaret born abt 1815 Mittagong - parents born somewhere in Ireland abt 1773.

Curious there is no sign around 1805 for an application to marry.
