Thanks gibbo.

It's possible her parents didn't come to Australia.

Ryerson has 10 June and cemetery 13 June so 13 must be burial not death date.

Didn't have Ryerson or burial details so thanks.

I've found the son but not Margaret junior. No idea why Margaret senior is not in the later rolls. Perhaps her death notice will answer that whenever the library reopens.

Death 1978 HAMILTON Brian John 53 John Margaret OCALLAHAN b. Melbourne North, Vic. d. Malvern, Vic. #26117

Ok, I've changed my mind. Arrival without parents for a marriage in 1920 is not as likely as a birth in Vic.

Death 7932/1941 HAMILTON Margaret 81 McCARTHY John Unk UNK d. Melbourne, Vic.

Son john and wife Margaret

1937 VIC Electoral Roll - Melbourne - North Melbourne
HAMILTON John, 118 Chetwynd st., civil servant
HAMILTON Margaret, 118 Chetwynd st., home duties

John's parents

1937 VIC Electoral Roll - Melbourne - Newmarket

John's parents had both died so

1943 VIC Electoral Roll - Melbourne - Newmarket
HAMILTON John, 274 Bellair st., civil servant
HAMILTON Margaret, 274 Bellair st., home duties
HAMILTON Margaret, jun., 274 Bellair st., home duties

Margaret junior must be a daughter of John junior and Margaret O'Callaghan.

Margaret O'Callaghan ??

If Margaret junior is John's wife = O'Callaghan then I can't say who Margaret senior is.

I can't prove yet that Margaret junior is a daughter.

Thanks Geoff.

1922 VIC Electoral Roll - Melbourne - Newmarket
HAMILTON John, 184 Bellair st., Kensington, labourer
HAMILTON Margaret, jun., 184 Bellair st., home duties

John's wife is 'junior' there because they are living with John's parents and his mother is therefore Margaret senior.

Yeah !!

1943 - 1962 is a long time for Margaret not to be in the rolls.

They are buried together although cemetery record has burial date as date of death.
