She married Reuben Gilson 11 May 1869. Anderston, Glasgow. Her Parents were John Thomson(Occ.Blacksmith) & Susan(nee' Baird).

Margaret Gilson married Enoch Bedson, 18 Apr 1885 • West Gorton, All Saints, Lancashire. (Both were widowed).

I cannot find a birth/baptism for Margaret Thomson/Thompson, nor a marriage in ScotlandsPeople, for her parents John & Susan.

Has anyone any ideas.

Not knowing when the illigimate child was born, and what surname it would go by, maybe a problem. Also, was Mary Thomson a sister to Margaret.?????????

Mary Thompson baptised 4 October 1846 Scalford, Leics parents Stephen and Maria.

Stephen and Maria had a shedload of children baptised in Scalford but no Margaret. They couldn't be Margaret's parents as the names are wrong.

Just trying to link this......................'Reuben Gilson, stonemason, was charged by Mary Thompson, single woman of Scalford, with being the father of her illegitimate child - Defendant did not appear, and was ordered to pay 2s per week'.

"Also, was Mary Thomson a sister to Margaret.?????????"

Just saying that in answer to your question I don't think Mary and Margaret were related. There is also a Reuben Gilson born Melton Mowbray in 1840 to William and Charlotte who may be the father of Mary's illegitimate child.
