Father is William of Portsmouth. That's new this time around.

I can't find her with her father in Hampshire in 1841.

Only 2x William in 1841 - aged 15 and 21.

William Jack born 1833 but Maria would be much younger probably.

Youngest daughter of William, Esq. Does not say late.

FS has no baptisms in Hampshire for Johns with father = William 1835 - 1855.

No births in Hampshire on FreeBMD for Maria Johns to 1860.

Thanks Val.

That's not his first wife. Sarah died on the vessel on the way to Qld.

It's a marriage I didn't have then. Also the last one. I had two out of four.

This has to get sorted because this is the correct death.

The Bundaberg Mail and Burnett Advertiser (Qld.) - Fri 20 May 1910 p.3
Mainly About People
The sad news has been received from Cairns of the death at Herberton, of Mr. William Jack, senior member of the firm of Jack and Newell, at the age of 76 years, after a fortnight's Illness. He was a sufferer for the past 50 years from asthma. His death is deeply regretted by all.

My William was not a draper and not associated with this firm.

The Brisbane Courier Mon 16 March 1891
JACK – On the 2nd February at Edinburgh Scotland, after a painful operation, Maria the beloved wife of Mr William Jack of Messrs Jack & Mckenzie, Drapers Queen street.

He married twice. Once in Scotland and once in Qld. But it seems not to Maria Johns.
