Thanks gibbo. :)

John C = John Curham - the eldest child

Walter born 1870 died young.

Mary Ann born 1871 - Have reg but not full dob - no death

Marian = Minnie - Age at death indicates 1872-1873

Edith Elizabeth is ok. Born 1873 - Have reg but not full dob

Anna Sophia = Nance - the youngest is ok.

One way to prove it is to find the dob and find there is no gap for two.

Yes, I don't think TROVE will solve this one for us.

There is a tree that calls her Marion Mary Ann b. 1871 Port Melbourne.

The birth reg for Mary Ann 1871 very clearly has Sandhurst which is not near Port Melbourne.

Maybe it is Sandhurst Central where Marian was born, given her place of marriage was Bendigo. Parents fit birth in post #1...

E/R
James Michael Kilfedder
1909
Victoria
Bendigo
Sub dist: Sandhurst Central
[Occ: Publican. With a Margaret Elizabeth, home duties]

So a 1902 and 1904 marriage for the same people:rolleyes:

Found this tho

Bendigo Advertiser (Vic. : 1855 - 1918)
Wednesday 28 December 1904
MATRIMONIAL.
A quiet, pretty wedding was celebrated at All Saints' pro-Cathedral yesterday morning. when Mr. A. W. Hatfield, son of Mr. H. IH. Hatfield, of Box Hill, was united to Miss Marion (Minnie) Kilfeder, eldest daughter of Mr. J. M. Kiilfeder, ex-sergeant of the Victorian police force. The Ven. Archdeacon Watson performed the wedding ceremony in the presence of the relatives of the contracting parties. The bride, who was given away by her father, was attired in an exceedingly tasteiful costume of soft white silk, with chiffon and lace trimmings. The customary wreath and veil and: bouquet comulctcd a charming bridal outfit. The brides maids were the Misses Edie and Nance Kilfoder (sisters of the bride). The first-named wore an attractive, white muslin and black picture hat, and her younger sister was 2'ar')" e din crcam silk voile with laoe trimmings. Mr. E. Hatfield performed the office of groomsman. The- wedding breakfast took place at the residence of the bride's parents, the tables being decorated in rare taste. The, customary toasts wore honored, and the happy couple departed by the noon train on their honeymoon trip. The bride, who earned deserved popularity while in the Education department, was the recipient of many handsome and valuable wedding gifts.

Morning Geoff

No, there are a few minor errors in the marriage records, looking similar for her birth records.

I suppose the problem is the tree/s one saying 1871 another 1873. They can be forgiven since apart from the name, Mary Ann.. 1871 as per index, is 2 years out at age at death (71 = 1873)

Oh! This would make it awkward to be 1873 unless she was a twin..

Birth:
Edith Eliz Kilfeder
Father: James Michael Kilfeder
Mother: Margt Eliz Curham
Place: Darraweit Guim, Victoria
Reg Year: 1873
Reg Place: Victoria
Reg no: 23370

Thanks Geoff & gibbo. :) :)

I would seem Marion/Mary Ann was born Sandhurst (Bendigo) and that the 1902 is an error yet the 1904 has her place of birth as Port Melbourne which does not fit.

Not a twin so it looks very much as if the 1871 birth as Mary Ann is in fact Marion's.

Hi

Have been reading this thread given my interest in Kilfeder.

Just a small point but there is commentary about a birth in SAND ...
"There is a tree that calls her Marion Mary Ann b. 1871 Port Melbourne.
The birth reg for Mary Ann 1871 very clearly has Sandhurst which is not near Port Melbourne."

Could this be Sandridge which is the pre-1884 name for Port Melbourne (refer Wikipedia)

Regards
Steve

Hello Steve,

You are probably correct. I wish there was a unique code for the BMD.

1868 Port Melbourne
1870 Kehuea
1874 Ballan
