I now have his service number but not a full copy of his service record. I got some in person in Dublin 6 years ago but didn't know at the time there were others to look up. That was in the first few months of work on my tree so it only had a few hundred names not 5000 as it has now.

Fawkner Memorial Park wishes to advise that the location of the buried remains of the late James Naughton aged 80 are located at Coburg Cemetery ROMAN CATHOLIC: Compartment: CC Grave No: 22. Service date: James 27/01/1922.

Ann was the informant and some things on James death certificate don't add up.

"... died aged 82 in 1922 and lived in Vic. for 69 years - married in Ireland in 1870 ..."

No marriage can be found in Victoria around 1874. Annie has not been found in shipping records. That leaves open the remote possibility they marriaed in Ireland and that we should be searching for her arrival as Naughton.

There are about 5x James Naughton in Victoria including one who seems to have 'married' sister Alice.

Alice was a widow and died in Ballarat Hospital age 80.
Alice was buried on 10 Nov 1927, at Ballarat New Cemetery in Church of England "G", Section 2, Row 1, Grave 23.

So James died before 1927. The James who 'married' Annie died in 1923. If not the same James can another death be found for a james before 9 Nov 1927?
