Hi, is it possible to order a marriage certificate from 1820 ? To Edward Clark and Anne Burchett I have looked online but they seem to only be available from 1837. I have also looked at the parish records online but am unable to find anything. I believe the Father may be listed on there. (At least I hope so). Trying to confirm the father more than anything. Have heard that it may in fact be someone else ~ so we may not actually be descended from Clarks at all, which is a BIG shock. I can't seem to find a death for Edward, which may help to confirm things. Well it's the first maybe scandall I have found in the distant past so far :)

Many thanks & All Best :)

Thank you for these links, will try them :) It would be a help to have something, The marriage shows on IGI and Ancestry, but no image, information is very slight, has the names of brides Father, nothing for Groom. The Grooms Father's name may not be on there, but I will give it a go :)

All Best

You don't get the full details from IGI nor Ancestry, just the transcription of the basics. ie. Names, dates, and where.

You may get more details from the original parish entry. Occupation, where from, fathers names, and witnesses. But nothing is guaranteed.

In some cases, I have found more info from parish regs, than from actual certs.

Good luck.;):)

A second cousin of mine has been researching the family tree and she gave me the information, she got it directly from the Parish archives, I just wanted some reference to it... and I have it !!! Edward Clark is listed as Edward Fox on a Christening record on IGI (19th June 1796)

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/J7ZC-XZY

and later a marriage between Grace Clark and William Fox

https://familysearch.org/pal:/MM9.1.1/N6VV-N84

Sooooo, we were never Clarks at all!!! Blimey, that is a bit of a scandal, lol, you never know what you will find do you ????

Now to try to find some for information on the Fox family!!!

Incidently my cousin told me of a mention of William Fox and a book of accounts in the East Sussex archives :-

http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/A2A/records.aspx?cat=179-ams6448&cid=1-1-1#1-1-1

It's really intrigues me to discover more...

Many thanks all,
