Marriage Registered Twice

Hi Folks,
I found the marriage of my gr.gr.grandparents on 'Scotlands people', Robert Brown & Mary Duffy, married on 11/10/1878 in Dalkeith, Midlothian.
The marriage was registered twice, all details are exactly the same on both registrations, apart from Mary's name. On one she is Mary Duffy & on the other she is Mary McKenneff. What is the reason for it to be registered twice.

Also the name McKenneff, i can't find any trace of other people with this name i.e. Scotlands People, Family Search site, or evan looking through local phone books. The name to me is either Scots or Irish, evan checking through surname lists of Scots/Irish names, no trace of it. Anyone out there heard or seen this surname.

Couldnt find that spelling but found the spelling Mckenneth , theres a link below to surname spellings.

Hi Iain! Perhaps it was registered twice because the registrar made an error the first time round? Anyway just a suggestion. > Penny
