Hello,

I'm trying to find what 'Marsilla' is in Elderslie. It appears with single quotes when you google it as if it is the name of a house or something and not the name of a street.

My ref is a place of death in 1907.

Regards,

Dave

Hi Dave

You may well be correct on the 'house' thought, but there appears to be businesses operating from it, so it may be an office complex, there is also a house, Helena.

Source, Paisley Directory and General Advertiser 1902/3:
Galbraith, Charles, Wine and Spirit Merchant, 64 and 65 George Street and 19 Maxwellton Street - house Marsilla, Craw Road.

Forrest, William & son, Chemical Manufacturer, Burnbank, Chain Road; Telephone No. 178; Telegrams, "Forrest, Elderslie".

PDGA 1906/7:
Lang, A.B, at H. Noble & son; house Marsilla, Elderslie.

Lang, John, jun., Wine and Spirit Merchant, 20 Broomlands - ho. Marsilla, Elderslie Road, Elderslie.

Source, Slaters' 1907:
Galbraith, Charles, Marsilla, Craw Road, Paisley.

Slaters' 1911:
Forrest, Wm., Marsilla, Ederslie, Johnstone.

Hope there is something here to help.

Geoff
