Age in census and pob as Warwick don't fit the one below.

So is there another marriage for a CURRALL to a Martha born Warwickshire abt 1801?

We know the parents of James CURRALL/CORRALL/... are Thomas and Martha but is the tree correct in having Martha DUNKLEY?

The census all have the Martha I'm chasing as born abt 1801.

It looks as though we have 2x Martha.

Hi Dave,

Can't see a marriage for Thomas and Martha but here is the 1841 Census entry

HO107.1155/F31
Market Street, Warwick

Thomas Currall 40 Tailor
martha Currall 40
James 13 tailor's apprentice
Henry 13
Ellen 12
Josiah 9
Meley 7
William 6
Jane 2
All born in county

The entry definitely says Josiah not Joseph as appears in 1851 and the other name is spelt Meley but it's not a name I have come across before.

Hello Emeltee,

Thank you very much.

Age for James is a bit out. He was probably born abt 1823. He ended up being transported to Van Diemen's Land.

Details from his convict record:

F. Thomas M. Martha
B. Samuel, Thomas, Henry, Josiah/Jonah, Wm.
S. Martha, Eliza, Jane, Amelia, Helen

So Meley would be Amelia.

99% of trees have mother as Martha DUNKLEY but age in census does not point to the one born 1788 Northamptonshire.

CURRALL Martha 90 Warwick 6d 321

Can another Martha be found in 1871 who fits that age at death?

Hi Dave,

I can only find one Martha Currall in 1871. She is a widow aged 70 living at 2 Buttons Yard, Warwick and working as a seamstress. The age of 70 would give a birth year circa 1801

Thanks Emeltee.

I'm sure we have the same Martha in all census in post #4 and that does not fit born 1788 Northamptonshire.

So either age and pob is out in all census and it is Martha DUNKLEY born 1788 and died aged 90 in 1878 or we have 2x Martha.

I've seen variations besides Currall and Currell.

I have found the following births and baptisms of children of Thomas and Martha

High Street Presbyterian, Warwick

James born and baptised 21 Dec 1823

Brrok Street Chapel formerly Cow Lane Independent, Warwick

Henry born 14 Sept 1826 bapt 22 April 1827

Ellen Maria born 8 Aug 1828 bapt 31 Aug 1828

Amelia born 11 Feb 1834 bapt 27 April 1824

William born 6 Dec 1835 bapt 17 Jan 1836

Jane born 27 Feb 1837 bapt 25 May 1837

No sign of Joseph at all but there are three other baptisms of children who do not appear in the 1841 Census

Samuel born 1 Aug 1816 bapt 18 May 1817

Martha born 5 Aptil 1815 bapt 23 June 1816

Emma born 2 Jan 1831 bapt 9 March 1831

Samuel and Martha are likely to be the children of the Thomas and Martha who married in 1814 in Northants but Emma is probably the sister of the children from the 1841 Census who didn't make it through infancy - that's all supposition though. Still can't find a marriage and googliing Thomas Currall Warwick brings up a few queries on various forums which all point to Thomas Currall and Martha Dunkley which doesn't help.

Hello Emeltee,

Thank you very much.

Pity none of the children have a middle name of Dunkley. There seems to be only the one Martha so for some reason age and pob are out in all census.

Thanks Geoff.

That burial fits the 1788 baptism for Martha DUNKLEY.
