Congratulations Steve.
Why on earth I didn't try to track him down before, I don't know.

Took some doing, but it was great.:)

His sister has been doing FH for a while, so a letter will be on it's way from me. Hopefully we can fill a few blanks, and knock some of those walls to blazes.:)

Thanks Ellie, fellow Burgess hunter.:)

Forgot to mention, my cousin is reasonably sure that Norman Burgess, his dad, was born in LIVERPOOL, July 1900.
I've found an entry for his birth in West Derby. j/a/s 1900.

So maybe there in 1911.

I've managed to get in touch with a long lost cousin, son of Norman Burgess. My phone bill is going to be enormous.
Watch this space.:2fun: :2fun: :2fun:

Steve.:)
Oh well, just got 2 certs for Norman and Mary Burgess, and both the wrong ones.:'(
I ordered these before I 'found' my cousin. Impatience and frustration.
So it looks like the Norman Burgess I want, was born in Liverpool, as my cousin was almost sure of that. I got the Liverpool entry at least, so I will order that when I can get more info.
Will have to wait and see before I order any more certs, for more FH from my cousin.:)

Hi all,
A bit of advice please and guidance.

My Gt.Aunt Mary, was born 1900, Stretford, Manchester, according to the 1901 census.

.
All you Mancunian experts have any idea which one to go for. No recriminations if it's the wrong one.:)

Steve.:)
Hi Steve,

Just found this entry for 1900 on the Lancashire BMD site.

BURGESS Mary Agnes Elizabeth Stretford Trafford STR/57/98

Unfortunately, no details of parents are supplied!

Oops! Have just been re-reading the thread and have realised that Gerard has already posted this info!

redf) (Put it down to senile dementia!)

Josie
Hi Josie,

You are not alone with the old senility mate. You may have caught it off me.

I got impatient again, and ordered Norman Burgess-1910 Liverpool, birth cert.

If he is the right one, the address on it may lead to finding the family, including Mary Burgess b.1900 in the 1911 census hopefully.
There also maybe more children in 1911 as well.

Fingers crossed. :)

Hi folks, especially Mancunians.

Mary Agnes E. Burgess. 1900. j/a/s. Barton on Irwell. Lancashire.

Would Barton on Irwell be considered in/on/near Stretford, Manchester.

I'm trying to ascertain if this is the same birth reg. as Gerard found on LancsBMD.

Stretford was part of the Barton upon I Registration District from 1850 to 1934.

I know you good folk have searched for this family after 1901.

But is there a possibility that you could have another look in Warrington, Lancs.

Joseph (Graham) Burgess. 26. b.Bowden, Cheshire. Occ. Fireman, Railway Engine.
Rebecca. 26. b.Salford, Lancs.
Olive. 2. b.Hulme, Manchester.
Mary. 10 months, Stretford, Lancashire.
PLUS - Norman. b.1910. West Derby/Liverpool.

Sorry for being a pain, but my sister-in-law, recollects a conversation with Granny Rebbecca about them living there.

I've ordered the Mary Agness Elizabeth b/cert, so I'll see if that comes up trumps.
Norman Burgess was born in Liverpol in 1910. So that's him sorted.

Why I/we can't find this family in 1911 is just soooooo annoying.

I wonder if I offer a cash incentive, would it make a difference.

Hi Steve,

Have been looking for several days for you (but haven't reported back). The only Norman of the right age is living with another family of Burgesses in Toxteth Park. Had a look on Lancashire BMD and found 2 Normans, born in 1910 - one in Fazakerley and the other in Leigh.

Tried searching for Norman (no surname) with Rebecca in the household, and Olive (no surname) with Rebecca. No luck so far! Maybe, Rebecca was ill at the time and her children were temporarily farmed out.

I'll keep looking whenever I get the chance and I'll report back if I find anything.

Thanks for the continued and much valued help Josie and Woody. My Norman was born Fazakerley.
And I have just this minute found out, his brother Frederick Graham Burgess was born 1906, West Derby(Liverpool).
So another name to be found in 1911.
But I do have Freds wife/children/grandchildren and in-laws.:)

Party time it will be Woody. I'll supply the champers.:D

Who are the people you found Norman with in Toxteth Josie, if you can see them.

Steve.:)

BURGESS, Alice Louisa 1871 40
BURGESS, Dorothy E 1898 13
BURGESS, Eric W 1904 7
BURGESS, Irene Constance 1899 12
BURGESS, John B 1905 6
BURGESS, William 1871 40
WILLIAMSON, John 1873 38

Hi Steve,

In 1911, Norman D Burgess, b 1910, in Liverpool, is in Toxteth Park with the above people. His "relationship to head of household" is "Son", so it's probably not your Norman.

Hmm! Will keep loooking!
