Looking for the birth and parents of Mary Delaney/Delany born around 1852 in Liverpool. I know her mother's name is Martha, just looking for any other info.

Thanks,

Emeltee

Is that the Mary Delaney living in Halifax in 1861, apparently in family group with Charles and Martha Bosega? The names Carl Barzaghi and Martha Delaney appear on the same page Liverpool Dec 1859. The marriage certificate would give Martha's maiden name and help trace her marriage to Mr Delan(e)y.

You will have seen that four Mary De!anys were registered in Liverpool 1851/2.

The names Henry Delany and Martha Burgh appear on the same page Liverpool Mar 1849, and the death of a Henry Delaney was registered Liverpool, Jun 1856, but that is entirely speculative.

You're spot on with all you have found. I have unearthed all that info too. I was hoping that someone with access to the sites I don't subscribe to might come up with something to point me in the right direction.

In the 1861 Census Martha gives her place of birth as Shrewsbury but I cannot find a Martha born Shrewsbury whose name fits in with the info I have. Nor can I find Martha and her Italian husband in any other Censuses apart from 1861, nor can I find deaths for them.

As I am doing this research for a friend I was trying to avoid buying certificates but I think I may have to to find the info I need

Thanks for looking,

Emeltee

Martha Burgh married James Gunn at St Peter's (Liverpool) 8 Jan 1849 so not that one.

The son Charles Bosaga b. 1861 is on a private members tree on Ancestry but you have to contact the tree owner via Ancestry to find out any more.

Just had another look at this, there was a baptism of a Mary Deleney at St Anthony R.C. church Liverpool;-
born 1 July 1851, bap 6 July 1851, d.o. Wm and Martha Delany, godfather Pat Mullery (?) god mother Cath Mullery (? same name as previous) can't read address.
This does look a likely baptism but doesn't get you far, can't find William & Martha or Pat & Cath in 1851 census though it is only a few months earlier and we know they are probably in the vicinity St Anthony's (Scotland Rd area)
Also can't find a marriage for William and Martha.
Will keep looking !
Elaine
PS the Charles Bosaga, 3 mths on the 1861 census in Halifax was registered as Carle Barzaghe

Many thanks Elaine. That does look like a hit for Mary's birth and even if it isn't possible to go back further, it's still another generation to add to the tree.

Thanks again,

Emeltee
