Mary Dorothy E Lattimore

My grandfather Herbert Edward Lattimore was born 18 jul 1901 in Tottenham, he married a Mary Dorothy E Muspratt, born 1903 in Jan 1924 at Salisbury and they had 2 children.

There is another marriage for a Herbert Edward Lattimore in Sep 1958 in Durham.

I can find no other births for a Herbert Edward Lattimore so I have assumed he got married again.

I have also found his death, which ties in with the birth, 18 jul 1989 in Gateshead.

Now what I cannot find is a death for Mary Dorothy E Muspratt(Lattimore) or for a divorce in the 1950's

I have tried everything I can think of, I have even sent for Herberts will!

Intriguing one Peter! Why is she Mary W when they marry and did she use the Dorothy E part of her name at all?

Think you need to get the marriage - second one - to see if he says he was married before or is that classed as single if they are divorced?

What were his children's names? And how about 1939 does that offer any clues?

I am beginning to think all that I thought on this wrong - I have just found Herbert Edward Lattimore on the Electoral roll in 1939,1938 and several in the 50's upto 1957 living with family (mother father etc) in Edmonton.

I now suspect he didn't marry after all ( his name is on my mothers birth cert)

Decide that I couldn't get any more information So I have now ordered both wedding Certificates - so time will tell

I've got some more info that should fit with the Salisbury marriage in that in 1920 when my mother was born Herbert Edward Lattimore was in the RAF and there is an RAF airfield near Salisbury.
So far I have drawn a blank on getting a service record for him but it is looking like I will have lots of detective work to follow up!

I've received the Copy of Herbert Edward Lattimore's Will and it confirms that both marriages are his in that he leaves money to his second wife and both children from the first marriage.

Just need the marriage certificates to see if he is the right person!

Well I think I have solved the death Of Mary Dorothy E Lattimore in that she remarried - to a Walter Stimson in 1950, she then died in 1995 in Colchester.
I think it may have been Clacton where her daughter was living at the time.

I have also now received both marriage certs on her marriage she is down as Mary Winifred Muspratt same address as 1911 census. On her death she is down as Mary Winifred D E Stimson so still unsure about the Winifred name, I am assuming she was christened Mary Winifred Dorothy E Muspratt.

Still lots of digging to do.
