Thanks Geoff.

Don't know about that one yet. May or may not be the Mary I'm after.

This is the Mary I thought I had in 1841.

Hi Dave,

HO107/0294/4
Ellen John 60 Post Dealer yes
Ellen Mary 60 Yes
Ellen Mary 20 Yes

Doesn't look as though this is the Mary you are after as hubbie is John not Thomas.

FreeBMD has only one death in Dorset for a Mary Ellen

Sep 1838 Sherborne vol 8 p61

Just realised I've posted the same Census entry as Geoff.Living on the same street are Thomas Ellen 40 Shipwright and presumably his wife Mary age 30 both born in county. Possibly son of John and Mary.

And finally, the familtsearch site has a burial for a Thomas Ellen born 1778 buried 19th May 1837 at Holy Trinity, Shaftesbury. Can't see a burial for Mary.

Looks like the correct family, dau Elizabeth's death has her parents as Thomas & Mary...

Thanks Emeltee.

I can't find that burial for Thomas. I'll blame the mouse. :)

So either Mary remarried or the Mary I'm chasing died 1838.

John is possibly a brother of Thomas. Probably can't prove it.

I can't find a marriage for a John ELLEN to a Mary before 1838 or 1838 - 1841.

Thanks Geoff.

I don't think we can find enough to prove John is a brother of Thomas and that John married a different Mary.
