Thanks for that.
One thing I have found is his father may have been Richard Collins 1774-1844. He married Maria Ayling in 1795. So unsure how that works. Maybe he took her last name or even was not the biological Father of George.

Don't know who the father might have been. I've not yet found anything that offers hints.

Death certificate no use - English ones for that period don't include parents.

I've not searched TNA.

The 1798 baptism says 'baseborn' so Maria was not married or she was a widow.

There are marriages after 15 April 1898 in Sussex and other counties for a Mary/Maria Ayling.

James DALTON & Martha TURNER
17 Jun 1806 West Molesey, Surrey, England
Batch: M004581

Any sign of a baptism for daughter Mary Ann around 1824? 1841 census has Mary Ann born Surrey and living in Wandsworth with family.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Sat 5 Dec 1903 p.10
DEATHS
AYLING.-November 30, at Scone, Mary Ann, widow of the late Rev. John Ayling, late of Scone and Pitt-town, aged 79 years.

Thanks,

Dave

I wonder if that's a different family Geoff with John James a shopman.

This looks to be correct.

Emma Elizabeth Dalton must have died by 1847. Probably by 1841.

The Sydney Morning Herald - Wed 6 Jan 1897 p.1
Golden Wedding.
AYLING - DALTON.-January 6, 1847, at the Independent Church, High-street, Wandsworth, Surrey, by the Rev. J. E. Richards, John, eldest son of George Ayling, of High-street, Wandsworth, to Mary Ann, younger daughter of James Dalton, of High-street.

Does not say only daughter, but only Mary Ann in 1841.

I did wonder, Dave.. Kennington is in Surrey, so not neccessaily easy to sort.

Seeing the 1841, does look different?

Will have another look for Mary Ann..
