I'm looking for confirmation of the parents of Mary Jane.

Death 20 Dec 1910 Victoria, Aust.

DOWNES Mary Jane - Age 69

Parents should be George BOLES and Elizabeth PIGOT

(Actual name is probably PIGOTHY)

Hi Dave, her parents are listed on her death record.
I've found a Charles Boles, saddler in Mansfield 1909 census wife Elizabeth.
Not sure if of any help.

When I try the on-line Vic BMD I can enter the following:

Surname: Downes
Given names: Mary Jane

Father's surname: Boles
Mother's surname: Pigot

Date: 1910

and get a hit.

If I enter father's given name as Geo or George I get no hit.

If I enter mother's given name as Eliza or Elizabeth or Elisabeth I get no hit.

Does it have George as 'Geo.' and Elizabeth as some shortened version?

The family arrived from Ireland on the 'Vanguard' in Nov 1863.

I have no idea why "Geo" didn't come up when you searched!

The local library has the Vic. BMD on CD but they limit the use on the computers to either 30 or 60 min per day depending on the resource you want to use. I spend my time doing things I can't ask for here.
