Hello,

Births Jun 1838
BEAUMONT Mary Louisa Wakefield 22 636

I'd like a look up please for Mary in 1841.

Something is not right. A transcription by British Library (India Office Records) has dob as 17 Nov 1836. I wonder if the author of the tree has chosen the wrong birth reg. Perhaps my Mary Louisa was born in India. I would say by this marriage that it's not the correct birth because the Mary Louisa I'm after married in India 15 Sep 1864.

Marriages Jun 1867
BEAUMONT Mary Louisa Wakefield 9c 6

Can we rule out the 1838 one for sure by finding her father is not Charles.

Can a pob be found to match 17 Nov 1836?

Dave

Thanks Barbara.

No need for 1841. I'd say the tree has the wrong birth for Mary Louisa.

I think she was probably born in India and also died in India 28 May 1893.

Bombay Almanac BMDs
Entry from Transcription of Marriage Announcements 1806 - 1867
At Kurnool, Willoughby Thomas Brereton, Lieut. 49th Regt. Madras Native Infantry, to Mary Lousia, daughter of Charles Beaumont, Esq.

Father is Charles. No idea yet if he was in the Army or what he did in India.

Can't find another Mary Louisa but loads and loads of Marys. Will be why they have gone for that one on the tree but obviously not correct.

So your find for Mary Louisa's birth on the BL site looks good, but b. England, possibly, unless Charles travelled back and forth from India and b. between travels, there are at least 3 other offspring b. Hackney.

Thanks Geoff.

Louisa Wilson SELBY is correct.

It looks as though both Willoughby Thomas and Charles travelled back and forth because there are birth reg and some baptisms in England and India.

Births Sep 1865
BRERETON Thomas Willoughby Selby Cuckfield 2b 139

Henry Willoughby b. 14 Apr 1867 so possibly India.

Henry Willoughby BRERETON c. 25 Dec 1867 Medomsley, Durham
Willoughby Thomas & Mary Louisa

1891
Civil Parish: St James Westminster
Registration District: Westminster
Sub-RD: St James Westminster
Address: Bury Street
HB Brereton 23 boarder Lt 3 Middlx Regiment born India

Should be HW.

Nothing too much but, I thought Twyford was in Berks - Mary D, is that Mary L?

If you're happy with that, maybe 1841 not too diff'

Assuming Charles not away!

Seems there is a Twyford in 5 counties. :)

I thought we had something else with mother of Charles as Mary.

Better check for some births/baptisms.

Curious:

Twyford House - Thorley, Hertfordshire - HERE

House. Mid C17, altered and refaced c.1715, further alterations
1835 (by Lewis Vulliamy), 1894 (by F S Brereton)...

Frederick Sadleir Brereton (5 August 1852 – 12 August 1957) was a decorated soldier and an author of children's books on heroic deeds conducted in the name of the British Empire.[1] Brereton was a prolific author. By the time he died he had written over 40 books.
