See this one also:

http://www.forum.familyhistory.uk.com/showthread.php?t=23244

Something does not add up - 27th Apr 1830 and 7th Apr 1832. ???

If the mother is Agnes GILMOUR and not Mary LYLE where does the middle name Lyle come from? Did the niece guess it was Mary Lyle ?

I doubt very much there are two Porterfield MALCOLMs. The mother of the one in my tree is Jean/Janet PORTERFIELD (variations).

Hello Barbara,

Thanks.

I agree Hume, Greenside and Farmer.

Oh. I've not seen the 'No relation' bit before.

Really stuck on the registrar's family name.

Regards,

Dave

I spent 53 of my 60 credits so I have several marriages and deaths to go though, all with some puzzles to solve.

Ant in law :2fun: Very kind of them.

I had two deaths on my list and decided not to get either but to save the 7 credits. :)

I could understand 27 and 7 April but 1830 and 1832. Unless one died young but then there should be a record for the one born 1832.

The middle name Lyle has me puzzled. I will sleep on that. :)

Hello Barbara,

I'm still wondering if they had two daughters they named Mary and the 2nd one was given the middle name Lyle.

Mary b. 27 Apr 1830 ?
Mary Lyle b. 7 Apr 1832 ?

I don't know which side of the family Lyle comes from.

I can find only one Mary born 1830-1832 with father = Porterfield

Variation: Jean, Janet - PAITERFEL, PORTERFEEL, PORTARFIELD

Janet's parents were James Porterfield and Jean Yeats.
That is currently unconfirmed.

Robert MALCOM married Jean/Janet abt 1785 probably in Ayr. I have nothing on Robert. No sign of a Robert born 1730-1780 with mother = Lyle.

Archibald born abt 1786 in Largs, Ayr and then this is the first baptism found so far:

name: James Malcom
gender: Male
baptism/christening date: 13 Apr 1788
baptism/christening place: , LARGS, AYR, SCOTLAND
birth date:
birthplace:
death date:
name note:
race:
father's name: Robert Malcom
father's birthplace:
father's age:
mother's name: Janet Porterfeel

Regards,

Dave

Archibald junior's middle name is Hunter but this can't be the right one:

Archibald Robertson
Scotland, Marriages, 1561-1910
marriage: 13 Jul 1844 Lochwinnoch,Renfrew,Scotland
spouse: Margaret Hunter

Robert Robertson
Scotland, Births and Baptisms, 1564-1950
birth: 16 Feb 1828
christening: 20 Feb 1828 , CUMBRAES, BUTE, SCOTLAND
residence: 1828 Cumbrae, Buteshire, Scotland
parents: Archibald Robertson, Margaret Hill

...Archibald Robertson and Margaret Robertson Maiden Name Hill - Farmer ...
I'm back to zero credits. :2fun:

22/04/1822 ROBERTSON ARCHIBALD MARGARET HILL/FR1165 (FR1165) M CUMBRAE/BUTE 552/00 0020 0047

From marriage certificate:

Born and Baptized on June 11 1833 at Millport Buteshire
SP has the date as 16 June 1833 Cumbrae, Bute so that's probably the baptism date.
