That marriage is after several births.

Yep and the births before marriage are under Brown but with Gracious as father. Wonder if Jane was still married at that time hence under Brown.

I now have the images of those baptisms.

Mother's maiden name for the Sydney one looks to be Grisdale and James was a publican.

Mother's maiden name for the Dapto one looks to be Gamble and James was a farmer.

... About 1863 at Richmond, Victoria, he married Jane Smith, daughter of the captain of a whaler. ...
