Mary Pritchard

Hi All, This is 2nd post on Mary Pritchard (I'm also looking for her death!).

I have the "middle" of her life via census and I know she was born in Monmouthshire (I think in Llangattock) circa 1838, but would like to find a definite birth entry to sort out her parents' names. Any help please gratefully accepted. Gilllisa

Do you know her maiden name? If not then one of her childrens birth certificates will have her maiden name, once you have this then you can trace the marriage and birth.

Hi juliejtp, I don't know her maiden name, so I'll try the route you've suggested. Why don't I think of these things!!! Many thanks Gill

There are a few James Pritchard marriages 1857-1863 with a Mary on the same page.

I think I found a James Pritchard on the 1861 census with matching details to the one on 1871 census born in Llangatock who was as yet unmarried.

I did post one of your other Mary Pritchard board where the maiden surname could be Davies.

Dec 1861 quarter
PRITCHARD James, Crickhowell 11b 268. On the same page is a Mary Rogers.

There are a few James Pritchard marriages 1857-1863 with a Mary on the same page.

I think I found a James Pritchard on the 1861 census with matching details to the one on 1871 census born in Llangatock who was as yet unmarried.

I did post one of your other Mary Pritchard board where the maiden surname could be Davies.

Hi Everybody, Thanks for being kind enough to come up with the various suggestions. I did send for a birth cert of one of Mary & James' children (Celia) and lo and behold Mary was originally Mary Davies, as suggested. So we now have her parents and siblings. The parents were Susanna and William Davies. Has anybody any idea how to get at Parish records on line as they would have been born around 1800/1820? Thankyou to all Gilllisa

It is more than probable that you will find these records either in the National Library of Wales in Aberystwyth or Gwent Family History Society which you will find through Google

and it will give you parish registers census and loads more
by the way there are 4 different LLangattocks
