Lyle [?] (deceased) - Senile Decay Bronchial Catarrh 7 days As cert. by D. Curle M.D.C.M. - Mary Carlson Niece (Present) - 1915 November 22nd At Glasgow John Houston Registrar

Mary Robertson nee Malcolm had a middle name of Lyle so her niece assumed it was her mother's maiden name - in fact Agnes Gilmour. I don't know yet where Lyle comes from.

Dave

Porterfield's mother was Jean Poterfield and her mother was Jean Yeats, so no Lyle there.

Porterfield's father was Robert Malcolm. No baptism found but naming pattern suggests Robert's father was Archibald.

Can't find a Malcolm/Malcom/Malcome/Malcoum marriage to a Lyle.

James the gilder aged 20 in 1861 has not been found yet in later census. He was alive on 4 Feb 1869. Can't see a death before 1871 that fits.

Did James go to NZ to join his brother and sister?

Death 16 Dec 1917/9022 Malcolm James 78Y ??

Yeah, I wondered that in your other post [James] wouldn't be out of the question, given not been found yet.. That said there is no obvious arrival for James either

Geoff

EDIT: There is a James Porterfield Malcolm in an 1890 E/R, I'll put it on the 'James Malcolm Post'.
