Yes, thanks Ellie.

I can't see a marriage on SP for a marriage of William Shearer to a Margaret Speirs/Spears.

08/04/1815 MALCOUM JAMES - MARY SHEARAR/FR384 (FR384) 602/ 20 288 Largs

29/05/1819 MALCOUM JOHNE - MARGRET SHEARER/FR392 (FR392) 602/ 20 303 Largs

They are brothers. I have no death for Margaret before 1841 census.

This one ...

Margaret b. 2 Jan 1787 c. 14 Jan 1787 Largs, Ayr
William SHEARER & Margeart WARK
Batch: C116022

... or sister of Mary and no way of telling.

The death certificate for Mary nee Shearer posted has the occupation of her deceased husband James which I can't read.

I thought it started with W but is it Mason? I'm not looking for his occupation in census but that word on Mary's death cert.

It may or may not agree with his occupation in census as son-in-law James Wylie may have guessed.

Yeah, W as in Widow, so Wan... ?

The strangest one I've seen for a mistake by an informant was merchant seaman for weaver.
