Hi
I recently mentioned my 5xgreat grandfather Matthias Butler on here. I have not yet been able to locate his baptism though. He was born in Chesterton, Oxfordshire according to the 1851 census in about 1789. Chesterton is on the IGI yet I have been unable to locate his baptism. With a first name like Matthias I thought it would be a doddle finding his baptism but not yet.
An Elizabeth Butler was born in 1798 in Chesterton and she had a son called Matthia Butler born in the same village in 1823. Elizabeth's parents were John and Jane Butler. Jane is alive in 1851 and says she was born in Grendon in Buckinghamshire. I may have found John's baptism in the same village as in 1841 he is aged 60 and not born in county.
I am wondering if those Butlers are connected to my Matthias born in about 1789, suggesting the family were of Buckinghamshire descent. Elizabeth having a son Matthias born in 1823 is a good hint to a possible relation.
Ben
