Hello all,
I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this request. I'll try.
I’m looking for information about two sisters the first is Stella Beatrice Pope Hennessey born about 1864 in I believe London, Middlesex, Ontario, Canada and the other is Maud Teodora Pope Hennessey born about 1866 in London, Canada.
I can find no record of their birth in England.
Their father was Sir John Pope Hennessey and their mother was Anna Maria Conynghan who died in 1867 in Surrey, England. They did not marry. She was born in about 1836 possibly Ireland. The name is also spelt as Conyngham.
In 1871 Maud is living with Charles and Ann Moore in Vauxhall Bridge Road, London. She is described as their adopted child with the name Hennessey. Then in 1881 she and her sister are in a convent as boarders with the name Hennessey. In 1891 Stella is a school mistress at St. Mary’s Priory she died in 1893.
I can’t find any record of Stella in 1871 or who might have adopted her. Equally, I can’t find Maud after 1881 and there doesn’t appear to be a death record for her. Could she have emigrated? Can anyone help please?
Thank you,
Maisy
