I can find a tree which gives his parents as Catherine Young born 1771 in Perth, died 1844 Black Creek, Branxton, NSW
and David McDonald born 1773 in Perth, died 1835 in Largs.

None of this has been verified.

Thanks emeltee.

I'll have a look.

NSW Burial MC DONALD CATHERINE 966/1844 V1844966 29 AGE 84 - MR= CofE Oakville; Whittingham; Wollombi

That's the only one I can find but age is out and district code for Black Creek would be CT. Whittingham is not far away.

I can't find anything in Trove so far.

Sarah Ikin (Leyne) baptised 27 Dec 1812 St Philip Sydney – Richard Leyne & Maria Ikin – FHL 993949

Maria Ikin married Charles J Bullivant 1823 Sydney – reg V

SMH – Jan 1852
At her residence “Forth and Clyde” Cumberland street, Mrs Agnes S McDonald age 39 years
https://trove.nla.gov.au/newspaper/article/31734396?searchTerm=agnes mcdonald

Notes: the following was published in a book Some Ikin Remeniscences – Ikin Family Gathering
Sydney June 1990 – pages 29 to 31

Apparently Edward had arrived in NSW as an Architect with great hope in the company of John Dunmore Lang who also came from Largs Scotland (Letter from Ian Chambers 11 July 1985). Agnes had been raised by Maria Ikin and her husband Charles James Bullivant publican - as her father Richard Leyne had departed the colony when his child was about 6 months of age. - Agnes was a the product of Maria’s relationship with Lieut Richard Leyne an irishman in the 73rd Reg – Agnes was b 21 Dec 1812

Agnes married Edward a Scottish innkeeper and incurred the wrath of her in-laws as reflected in the following description of her behavior..

When Edward’s Mother came to stay in 1843 she was heartbroken to find her beloved son who had such promise in life was stuck in Sydney at a very wild wicked period of history & met his Delilah there - married her like any decent honest man & found he had married to his sorrow & undoing, she never rested until she had him in a hotel, as she had grown up in one & soon showed a trail of that serpent over her, she was seldom sober and had most violent temper – from extract of history of the life of James Swales Clark & Elizabeth McDonald by Elizabeth Caroline Clark 1914.

Edward b 1808 Dalkeith – David McDonald (1773-1835) & Catherine Young(1771-1844) – they married 19 Nov 1804 Cannongate Edingburgh – Mum Catherine died 1 March 1844 “Oakville” Whittingham Wollombi NSW – reg V1844966 29
