Hi

Ann Murray McRabie m. William Rankin in Soham, Cambridgeshire in 1829.

What looks to be a sibling Christiana Murray Mcraby m. William Gilbert in Soham in 1825.

Looking for any info on the ladies prior to their marriages.

Many thanks
Geoff

Geoff, have you got Ann in 1851 - pob ?
She looks to be calling herself Mary Ann in 1851 b. Soham. With William and family.. Ref: Piece: 1763; Folio: 190; Page: 21. RD: Newmarket, Sub: Soham.

William is a Hairdresser in 1841/51, 2x offspring are the same in both censuses.. So correct family.

I have been browsing through the images of Norfolk Archdeacons Transcripts on fs. I couldn't find Anne's baptism but I did come across this

Christiana Murry daughter of Jas. Mackraby and Jane his wife (late Murry) born May 31st and privately baptised June 1st 1806.

All names spelled as per the entry.

I have now found Anne's baptism

Ann Murray daughter of James and Jane McRaby, late Lane, born Feb 2 bapt Feb 12

The confusing bit is that Christiana was baptised at Eaton St Andrew and Ann at Easton.

If you look I've put Ann's bpatism on here and it's the same place as Christina.

Now I'm confused.

Late Lane and late Murry.

Which one is closer to Soham? The family was on the move or an error?

Not much difference one E and one W of Norwich.

I think it might be a possibility that with the child's name being Chritiana Murry Mackraby the vicar has presumed that Murry is the wife's maiden name.

Both Eaton and Easton are around 28-30 miles from Soham.
