Hi,

Irish records are not the easiet to access, but as time goes on more records are becoming available.

Census records before 1901 were destroyed with only a few remanants remaining. 1901 census is intact and the 1911 is online for Dublin , the other counties being added at later dates.

The link below is to the census finder including Ireland this looks like an excellent site. There are many resources listed for Ireland.

Hi Lawnrene,

If you hav'nt already found it this should hopefully be what you're looking for:

1911 Irish Census at nationalarchives.ie,

and:

The original 1911 census form (signed by John McVeigh),

and looks like they lived at house number 18 in Mourne View (Ballynahinch, Down).

For anyone else the Irish 1911 online archive now includes counties Antrim, Cork, Donegal, Down, Dublin, Galway, Kerry, Kings County (Offaly) and Wexford, and they hope to include the rest of Ireland over the coming months.

I found my own family a couple of days ago and wrote a bit about it here: Irish-Census-1911.

Its a great online resource and totally free. Hats off to the people putting this one together.
