The name is MODEN.

John G C 22 Wine merchant's assistant Cambridge

Harriett Clutton visitor 23 Single Hotel Manageress
Matilda Taylor servant 19 Gen servant domestic Weston Colville, Cambridgeshire

I'd like a look up please for the family in 1901 and 1911. Harry born 1867 won't be with family as he ended up in Australia. John either died or is in another county in 1911. I can't see a death before 1911 for John that fits for age, except for this one in Norfolk:

Deaths Sep Qtr 1893
Moden John 53 Norwich 4b 108

HOUSEHOLD MODEN ESTHER 1842 69 Cambridge Cambridgeshire

Thanks,

Dave

Thanks Geoff.

I spent the afternoon at the library and still did not find those baptisms where we had to guess the volume.

This should be Jemima:

21/1856 HOUSTON FEMALE WILLIAM MARY SYDNEY

577/1848 WALLIS ANNE WILLIAM MARY

1587/1854 WALLIS SARAH M WILLIAM MARY

The 1856 birth just the same...

This is all I can see for 1848

Eliza J Houston
Birth Date: 1848
Father: William Houston
Mother: Mary A
Birth Place: New South Wales
Registration Year: 1848
Registration Place: Sydney, New South Wales
Volume Number: V18481396 49

Oh!

There is this for 1853..

Henry H Houston
Birth Date: 1853
Father: William Houston
Mother: Mary A
Birth Place: New South Wales
Registration Year: 1853
Registration Place: Pitt Street, Sydney, New South Wales
Volume Number: V1853950 58

Geoff

Vol 58 is not Presbyterian.

The two WALLIS should be there as well as they are before 1855.

And this...

William Houston
Birth Date: 1853
Father: William Houston
Mother: Mary
Birth Place: New South Wales
Registration Year: 1853
Registration Place: Sydney, New South Wales
Volume Number: V1853494 40

Geoff

Vol 40 is listed as CofE so that means three different religions for three Houston baptisms ???

There's a tree that has them b. Scotland and arrived 1853

I try to find the census

Edit: 1852 not 1853

The tree points to this..

Parish Number: 232
Civil Parish: Peterhead
Town: Peterhead
County: Aberdeenshire
Address: 72 Kirk Street
ED: 13; Page: 27; Line: 13; Roll: CSSCT1851_50

William Houston 28 [b. Greenock. Dyer]
Mary Houston 32 [b. Port Glasgow]
Jean Houston 1 [b. Greenock]
Mary Houston 2 Mo [b. Peterhead, Aberdeenshire]

Geoff

Edit: If this not the correct family, there must be 2x William & Mary

I'll have to find the other Houston family. I have two in my tree. One family lived mainly in Paisley and no member left Scotland. The other family came to Australia.

Without the Volume for these two I'm stuck. Would take days to scan 5 full rolls of film. The date in the index is the year of birth but the films are records of baptisms so the date at the top of every page is a baptism date. So you have to guess at what age they were baptised. And guess the religion.

577/1848 WALLIS ANNE WILLIAM MARY

1587/1854 WALLIS SARAH M WILLIAM MARY
