Modern day weddings

Next friday i have the honour of giving my step daughter away, although i am not a stranger to the modern wedding (having already married off three kids) i feel somewhat nervous as to the modern day wedding ettiquette. I still can't get my head around the lack of organization in proceedings, i am reliably informed by my oldest daughter that that is way they prefer it these days, she says it adds to the spontaneity of the event and i should leave well enough alone!
I admit that that is sound thinking if it comes off, but i am one of those people who needs some sort of order to survive. I am nervous enough about giving the speech without not knowing when i will be called on to do so.
So folks any tips to help me get through the event would most appreciated.
Has anyone had a similar experience? if so how did it go.
Jackson.

Hi Jackson,hope it goes well.
My advice is to be just yourself...dont try and be different.
All your family love and respect you for what you are..so dont try and act different.
My main advice is to make an effort to talk a little slower as a lot of people tend to babble and speak faster when stressed.

Have a great day...and be proud.:)

Well what a silly old thing i am, yesterday (saturday here) we had the australian traditional bucks party. My future son in law decided that it would be fun to take us old and infirm beings to a go-cart track and proceed to bait us with delightful and colourful aussie sayings, needless to say we rose to the bait and competed at a level we had not sustained for a number of years.
After being totally and utterly made fools of, we elder gentlemen decided a cool and refreshing ale would be in order and proceeded to the local club to partake. Not to be out done the younger set decided to join us in our quest to talk swahili,(which we eventually suceeded in).
Now this morning i not only have a sore and stiff back from the pounding it took, but my head feels as if a thousand camels have run over it.As i said at the start what a silly old thing i am:cool:

Had lots of fun Gibbo but my brain hurts!!!
I bet it was still a bl**dy good day though mate. Fair play to ya.:2fun:

My sort of fun.....done the go-kart thing, with clay pidgeon shooting, then a couple of hours ten pin bowling to follow.
Of course, rounded the day off with some grub and grog.;):)

Sore everything, but I'd do it again like a shot.:2fun::2fun:

Well it has taken us a few days to recover, but i am finally back, for those who gave me tips on how to speak at these things, thank you it worked. The wedding was a success and i even had a few people laughing at the jokes (might have been at me), but the main thing was i got my message across and was congratulated on a heartfelt speech. Once again thanks for the help it was really appreciated.
Regards Jackson.
